This elegant yet quick recipe is perfect for a romantic dinner for two. Tender filet mignon is paired with a rich balsamic glaze that feels luxurious without being complicated. It’s wonderful served with steamed asparagus and baby red potatoes.
Ingredients
2 (4 ounce) filet mignon steaks
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Salt, to taste
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup dry red wine
Directions
Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper over both sides of each steak, then season with salt to taste.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the steaks in the hot pan and cook for 1 minute on each side, or until nicely browned.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the balsamic vinegar and red wine to the pan. Cover and cook for 4 minutes on each side, basting the steaks with the sauce when turning them over.
Remove the steaks to two warmed plates. Spoon about one tablespoon of the balsamic glaze over each steak and serve immediately.
